One of the first names that come to mind while looking for adhesives is EvoStik. The brand was floated by Evode Chemical Products, which launched its first unit at Stafford in 1938. Initially, the unit made Dove shoe polishes and later expanded to include Evo-Stik, which was so popular that it began to be exported to several other countries. The company was the brainchild of Dr Hermann Simon, who ran it until 1978. Thereafter, it was taken over by Bostik, an international conglomerate.
