- Application:
- Make sure you wear some protective gloves. Give the tin a good shake then pour the Decking Stripper straight onto the decking and use a stiff brush to spread it out
- Work in small sections and be careful, as it can be quite slippery when it’s working. It doesn’t blister or fizz but don’t worry, it’s doing the job
- Leave it to work for around 30 minutes, keeping an eye out for any patches that start to dry out. If this happens, re-apply on these areas
- After 30 minutes scrape the surface with something sharp, like a paint scraper, to see if it’s worked. You should see the old coating lifting as you scrape. If not, put a bit more on and leave for another 10-15 minutes
- Give it a good scrub with a stiff brush. Scrub along the grooves and also across them to help loosen the old coating. Pour on some water and keep scrubbing. This will help lift the finish completely off
- Finally, give it a really good wash down with a hose or jet wash. Let your deck dry out for a couple of days. You’ll then be ready to paint, stain or oil it.
- Aftercare:
- Cleaning-
- Remove as much stripper from your tools as you can and then wash them in warm soapy water
- You shouldn’t empty leftover Decking Stripper into drains or watercourses. Instead, contact your local council for the best way to dispose of your leftovers
- Maintenance-
- Don’t leave your decking bare of protection as this could result in your decking rotting and weathering.
